Lagos — Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote said on Monday that his oil refinery could pursue a secondary listing in the United States within about three to four years, as the company moves ahead with its landmark public offering in Nigeria.

Dangote made the comments as he launched the initial public offering (IPO) of Dangote Refinery on Nigeria’s main stock exchange, marking what is expected to be Africa’s largest share sale to date.

The planned Nigerian listing represents a major step in opening ownership of the refinery to local investors and deepening Nigeria’s capital markets.

A potential U.S. secondary listing would give the refinery access to a much larger pool of international investors and could increase its global visibility and liquidity.
