Cairo— Egypt’s annual urban consumer price inflation eased to 14.5% in August, down from 14.9% in July, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Thursday.
The moderation marks a slight easing in price pressures in Egypt’s urban economy, although inflation remains elevated and continues to weigh on household purchasing power and business costs.
Egypt’s inflation trajectory will remain closely watched by investors as policymakers balance the need to contain price pressures with efforts to support economic growth. A sustained decline in inflation could improve consumer confidence and create more room for monetary easing.
