Algeria’s state grains agency, the Office Algérien Interprofessionnel des Céréales (OAIC), has issued an international tender to purchase milling wheat, according to European traders.

The tender seeks wheat for shipment in December from Algeria’s main supply origins, including Europe. The deadline for submitting offers is Tuesday, October 13, traders said.

The purchase is part of Algeria’s efforts to secure supplies of milling wheat, a key commodity used in flour production and the wider food industry.

The volume of wheat sought and the outcome of the tender were not disclosed in the initial announcement.
