Johannersburg – The South African government has sold 900 million rand ($55 million) worth of inflation-linked government bonds maturing in 2043 and 2058 at an auction, according to central bank data released on Friday.
The bonds, identified by their trading codes ZAI2043 and ZAI2058, are designed to provide investors with returns linked to inflation, helping protect the purchasing power of their investments.
The auction results were published by the South African Reserve Bank, which provides official data on government bond sales and other financial market activities.
The latest sale highlights the government's continued use of the domestic bond market to raise funds and manage its financing requirements.
