Ghana EPA Fined AngloGold Ashanti’s Iduapriem Mine Last Year Over Environmental Breaches

Ghana’s Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) fined AngloGold Ashanti’s Iduapriem mine in 2025 over environmental breaches, according to EPA Deputy Chief Executive for Operations Michael Ayamga. He did not disclose the nature of the breaches or the amount of the fine.

Iduapriem is a wholly owned AngloGold Ashanti open-pit gold mine in Ghana’s Western Region, near Tarkwa. The company reported three reportable environmental incidents across its operations in 2025, including one at Iduapriem.
