Kinshasa Democratic Republic of Congo — The Central Bank of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has maintained its benchmark policy interest rate at 12.5%, signalling continuity in its monetary policy stance.

The decision was announced on Thursday following a meeting of the central bank’s Monetary Policy Committee.

By keeping the rate unchanged, the bank has opted to maintain its existing policy settings rather than introduce an immediate adjustment to borrowing costs.

The policy rate is a key monetary tool used by central banks to influence inflation, credit conditions and economic activity. Changes in the rate can affect lending costs for businesses and households, as well as broader financial market conditions.

However, the central bank's statement did not provide further details on the factors behind Thursday's decision.
